We love a proposal story so this month we sat down with our very own Head of Creative Isabelle to discuss her fairytale proposal story...
How long have you and your partner been together and how did you meet?
7 years already!
We met through a friend at a party in Brussels. It all went really fast even though we were quite young (I was 22 and he was 24). After a couple months we were already discussing moving in together.
When and how did the proposal happen?
In April 2022, in New York. He surprised me while we were on a little boat on the Hudson river during the sunset. He proposed with a more simple ring as he knew I wanted us to draw the engagement ring together. It was a very intimate moment out of time, we both felt very high on love!
He then proposed again on the top of the wheel at Winter Wonderland with the final ring once it was done. A lot more happy tears during this proposal as I was less surprised and we were more conscious and emotional about what was happening and the importance of this decision we were taking.
Both moments were so special!
Did you design the ring together?
Yes we did! It was such a nice experience to do this together. I can really see his style and mine mixed in the design, and the Kimaï team was super helpful and responsive. They made our idea into something absolutely unique and stunning.
What inspired your design choice?
I wanted something that felt both timeless and modern, that's why I chose an eternity type style. The wave movement in the band makes it softer to the eyes and the oval stones are my favourite shape of diamonds. The bezel setting gives it an art deco touch that I love.
